Preg - D17 Butter Box

With Preg we want to explore how we can use ornaments in modern design and production, and with that create a space where ornamentation again can exalt and adorn our surroundings and everyday objects.

Preg D17 is an interpretation of ‘smørøskje’, a bentwood box that traditionally was used for transportation or storing butter. By using the traditional craft of bending wood, the top and bottom gets its characteristic oval shape. The smørøskje is ornamented with geometrical motifs, inspired by traditional chip carving. Traditional wood carving has been further developed and replaced with modern technology.

The butter box is treated with a food safe hard wax oil. Dry off with a well wrung cloth. Preg is produced in Norway.
