Preg - D16 Cutting Board

- a series of objects where ornaments play the main role.

By analyzing historic ornamentation, we’ve developed our interpretation of the ornament and implemented these in objects. The motifs in the series are based on the geometrical principles found in traditional wood carving techniques, such as the acanthus and chip carving. We have further developed the ornaments to suit modern production methods.

The modernistic principles, such as form follows function, has been set aside to give space to a broader understanding of what design can and should be. With Preg we want to explore how we can use ornaments in modern design and production, and with that create a space where ornamentation again can exalt and adorn our surroundings and everyday objects.

The series consists of a serving dish, three different plates and a cutting board.

The plates, serving dish and cutting board is treated with a food safe hard wax oil. Dry off with a well wrung cloth. Preg is produced in Norway.
