Lake Como Design Festival 2025
Como, Italy
Each year, Lake Como Design Festival brings together designers, artists, and architects from around the world for a series of exhibitions and installations set within the city’s historical architecture and landscapes.
This year’s edition, themed Fragments, explored ideas of memory, renewal and cultural continuity.
Aula participated as part of The Contemporary Design Selection, curated by Giovanna Missoni. Our contribution, the Preg series, was presented through the Preg D18 and Preg D19 stools, along with the new textile TRAMA, developed in collaboration with Pia Bjørnstad and Krivi Vev in Tingvoll.
The Preg series draws on fragments of Norwegian ornamentation – from wood carving and acanthus to geometric motifs – translating these historical references into a contemporary expression. The work examines how ornament can act as a vessel for memory, tradition, and cultural connection across time and place.
Through materials such as wood and linen, and an approach that values craft and local production, the project invites reflection on how we live, consume, and surround ourselves with objects in everyday life.
The exhibition was presented in Serra Bassa, part of the festival’s main program in the city of Como.
Our contribution is supported by The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Design and Architecture Norway (DOGA).
