Apt 1898

In an apartment building from 1898 we’ve had the pleasure of renovating a venerable apartment with classical details.

The apartment had to go through bigger adjustments to fit several new functions. The kitchen was moved to better connect with the social zones such as dining room and living room, new bedrooms were established and a laundry room was separated from the bathroom. Despite these large changes in the plan it was important to preserve the character of the space. Original doors, cornices and skirtings was cautiosly plucked out before it was rehabilitated and placed in its new positions.

The colour palette of the apartment is designed with light hues and soft contrasts. This contributes to enhance the original details of the apartment, such as stucco, doors and the tile oven. The combination of the different hues the colour palette consists of, together with new elements such as the kitchen and overall furniture, has been carefully chosen to each room to enhance and harmonize with natural lighting, dominating materials and distinct details. This allows each room to be experienced balanced, whilst the home as an entity appears consistent with a gentle dynamic.
